Susan Hable, the Artist and Designer Behind Hable Construction Design Studio Announced as Craft + Design 2022 Featured Speaker

The Visual Arts Center of Richmond announces designer Susan Hable as the featured speaker of the Rise + Shine Brunch presented by Carole and Marcus Weinstein. The brunch is part of VisArts’ 58th Annual Craft + Design Show which takes place at Main Street Station’s newly renovated train shed the weekend of Oct. 14-16, 2022.

Richmond Magazine brings Hable, the artist and designer behind the boldly colored and hand-drawn patterns of Hable Construction Design Studio to the event to talk about how to integrate bold color and one-of-a-kind craft into your home.

Susan Hable is the artist and designer behind the boldly colored and hand-drawn patterns of Hable Construction Design Studio. The design studio specializes in handmade art, textiles, furniture and other licensed collections with representation in interior design showrooms worldwide.

Inspired by travels to Italy, Asia, and South America as well as her garden and community, Susan’s work is most recognized for her sensibility for color and form. Her work utilizes sustainable materials and handmade construction processes to create pieces with global appeal and an intimate presence.

Susan brings her multi-disciplinary arts background to her designs and her work is informed by experience in collage, sculpture, welding, drawing, printmaking and painting. She has honed a design aesthetic that’s both contemporary and timeless.

Her book, “A Colorful Home,” (Chronicle Books, 2015) which was highlighted on architecturaldigest.com shows how she translates the palettes found in nature, art, or objects to create an inspiring yet approachable guide to living with color.

Susan’s work, home and various collections have been covered by T, the New York Times Style Magazine, Elle Decor, Luxe Magazine, the Washington Post, Atlanta magazine, Chicago Tribune, The English Room, Home Textiles Today and Interior Design. Her work is sold in Spalding Nix Fine Art in Atlanta, Georgia; Florida Mining in Jacksonville, Florida and Hoebel Gallery in Corsicana, Texas. Susan resides in Athens, Georgia.

The designer will take the stage at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct.15. Rise + Shine, which pairs an early shopping opportunity with a light breakfast, bloody marys and mimosas, will run from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 15. Tickets are $25 for VisArts members and $30 for the general public.
